Major Project

Kingston University

1994 — 1995

A derelict wine bar/pub was re-claimed and turned into a music 'jazz library' to serve the local community and surrounding areas.

An L-shaped bookend props up two sides of the building providing services and a fire escape. This forms part of the principle architectural intervention.

Twelve pod-shaped listening booths are elevated out on the first and second floors. A blade-like structure provides lighting to the pods, the main building and the front of the building linking the architectural addition to the existing structure.

The public green at the back of the site has also been reclaimed, hosting live performances in the summer.
