The Operational Space Team work closely with Sainsbury's store planners as well as third party CAD design agencies who issue plans directly to us for a wide variety of schemes ranging from small works, extensions, refits, refurbishments and new stores.

Among the third party agencies we work with are STL Planning and Design Solutions, Retail Design Solutions and CA Design Services.

Main Areas of Responsibility

The accurate implementation of operational changes using Sainsbury's bespoke JDA software and the provision of reliable store space data and product range allocation.

To liaise cross-functionally with key figures during store investment projects (Investment Delivery Managers, Commodity Planners, Range Planners and Store Managers) to provide the necessary product ranges to new and refurbished stores. This is underpinned by an ethic of cross functional working and cultivation of effective working relationships with the ultimate goal of serving the customer.

To conduct store audits (Space Accuracy) to determine the ongoing level of space data accuracy between the centre and store level and to produce performance indicators based on the accuracy of this data. The aim of this work is to protect data integrity in order to maximize the efficiency of the central store commodity library and layout.
